Hi i'd like to sand the dark wood stain off a window frame.
I've started doing it with a mouse sander but im not really sure if thats the best way?
Its my first house and I don't have any DIY skills so any advice is appreciated
Thanks
Tried to post a picture but it won't let me as a first time poster

hi ruthioo,
if the wood has been stained you are not going to be able to sand it off - have you check on YouTube - there are loads of videos online which will help with almost any DIY issue.
The main thing is that any wood that you are about to paint should be dry and free from dust, flaky paint or varnish etc You can then paint the wood with a primer and paint it or varnish it. My dad always says prep twice as much and paint once!!
You need to give yourself a little bit more time that you think you're going to need. Use a dust cover to protect your floor etc and mask the windows with proper decorators/masking tape so that you have neat straight lines and won't spend hours scraping paint off glass!
Cleaning your brushes etc after use will save you pennies in the long run!0 -
What are you going to replace the stain with?

Its currently stained with a mahogany colour and I would like it to be a lighter oak type colour
So because I want a lighter colour I assumed I need to get the current colour off
Thanks for the link0
