NHBC Warranty - Flue Corrosion = Boiler replacement

Hi,
I have recently had my boiler condemned due to corrosion on my flue. My plumber informed me that the flue should be covered by my NHBC warranty as the house is less than ten years old and it was poorly installed.
I have spoken with NHBC who has confirmed that they should be able to cover the cost of replacing the flue as it was poorly installed. They asked for me to send them a quote for the work and they will review and expect to cash settle to cover the cost of the work.
In the process of getting a quote, my plumber confirmed my boiler (Ideal ICOS HE15) is not manufactured anymore and the spare parts required to replace the flue are not available. The only way to replace the flue would be to replace the whole boiler. The boiler is still in a good condition so does not need to be replaced however this seems to be the only option. I have spoken to a couple of other plumbers who have confirmed the situation (although the original plumber is still searching for the parts from other sources).
I have spoken again to NHBC who have confirmed they would only cover the cost of the flue (around £200 - 300) and the cost of the new boiler (£1300+) would be my issue. As the boiler is in good condition I am reluctant to go down this route but not sure of any other options.....
Does anyone have any ideas???

Personally as long as there is nothing wrong with the elbow on top of the boiler I'd just buy a currant Ideal flue & use that, but then I'm not after a boiler change, although the icos isn't a very good boilerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Ideas: make them pay for a new boiler
Don't accept their excuses.
From the way you've written it, it sounds like you were making their excuses for them and just phoned up to confirm they didn't want to pay you.
If they refuse, read your NHBC paper work about the complaint process and follow itChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
I think you will still get the icos flue, unless its corroded the piece where it joins inside the boiler, which is quite common and is definitely obsolete.
Whatever flue you get will need to be suitable for the boiler model. Speak to ideal and ask them for the part number and ring round a few merchants to see if they say it's obsolete.0
