Ad Blocker for Internet Explorer any suggestions?

Hi I use IE for my banking as I use First Direct Internet Banking Plus that will only work on there.


The ads are driving me mad. Can anyone suggest a safe ad blocker that I can download please?

Not a direct answer, but I use Firefox and it works with First Direct banking. My FF has ad blocker & works just fine with FD.

Everyone I have ever met who uses first direct does not like the service, terms or fees, now you bring this.

IE is really unsafe these days, especially if you use an Admin account. Microsft made it part of OS and so can't remove it easily, they were citing the security issues with IE as being a reason to upgrade to W10.

Now that might be a drastic step but try Firefox or Opera or Chrome or all three.

Ublock Origin is best for speed, but not aware of any available on IE.

I can't claim credit as I saw someone else recommend it first but you can use uBlick Origin on Firefox to block more than just ads.

Do you visit a forum that has tedious layout that grabs all your screen estate?

use Ublock Origin to clean it up an make it usuable.

Fed up with those cookie permission popups use Ublock Origin to never be prompted again.

Ebay giving you all kinds of rubbish above and below listing, use Ublock Origin to clean up that mess.

You can edit what you block so if you mess up you can undo in the dashboard

by deleting a line such as

Try to block the container rather than inner objects, it highlights in pink if you right click and choose block element.

Clearly you have never met me, or the myriad MSE users who annually vote First Direct as the best bank!

I use Opera as my browser and also bank with FD,never had any problems.
There also the best bank for customer services in UK.

Reading a few of those negative reviews gives some concern, such as someone who has been a customer since 1974 to" 'prove' herself and her rightful existence as the lady identified in the account

Despite letters, threats and demeaning requests for proof of identification (not forgetting her state pension was going into the bloody account) we took humbrage. Fought them tooth and nail to a standstill. Wrote to the Chairman HSBC. Got that worthless group of ne'er-do-wells of a system called the Financial Ombudsman (worthless lip-service to the system) to take it up with First Direct who found in our favour. We got hampers and £100. Yippeeee! But it didn't matter...she STILL was requested to prove herself. Doctor's certificate of existence, passport, police proof blah! blah! blah! And then we left!"

I am glad you both are happy First Direct customers, I guess they all are until they are not.

I am glad you both are happy First Direct customers, I guess they all are until they are not.

Is 1974 a typo? Don't think they've been going that long, have they?


They always seem to get the Which best bank award too.
