zenith ruined my windows continued

I am reporting back on my zenith double glazing saga!!
I had an installation manager look at them (from another firm) and he is doing a report for me with photos.
He said that the windows don't have enough fixings and two have sagged at the top and so don't shut/open properly. Probably why they keep cracking upon installing.
Two are not fitted correctly vertically - he used a spirit level to show me.
One has the trickle window outside and not inside.
One appears ok but has not been made good around its edge!
So no a great job!

basically I had a quote and agreed after lots of pressure and paid £199 deposit which turned out to be an admin fee despite not being told this.
I cancelled and they reduced the quote and promised to refund it once the windows were in manufacture. - they then refused to do so despite it being written across my contract. They fitted the windows when it was snowing despite being told they would only fit them in dry weather.
The mastercrafstsmen promised verbally and on the Zenith website turned out not even be employed by Zenith . NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD!
They cracked two sealed units and tried to claim under my guarantee for replacements - I refused as they hadn't even
finished fitting.0 -
run out of space! Then they left with two cracked units and returned with two replacements - one they fitted but with cracked beaidng and one they cracked again! Once again seeking to claim under my guarantee. I refused again. They demanded payment and I refused. Then their office rang me and was extremely rude DEMANDING I pay. I refused and they left again.
When they had gone a friend and I checked the windows and realised how dire they were.0 -
Two of the biggest hardly open due to incorrect fitting and not enough fixtures. One has a trickle vent outside and not inside due to incorrect measuring - the outside vent cannot be seen inside and so does not work.
There is awful huge picture moulding around all windows looking awful as if a child fitted it and it is only stuck with sealant! Also in my conservatory (already there) the window has not been made good and there is staining to my fereshly decorated wall.0 -
HI there surfsister, have you got a thread of the original story as I'd like to read the background to the story. I'm very sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience though!
From the brief description it does sound terrible. How can a trickle vent be on the outside? If it's possible to get something so basic wrong goodness knows what level of experience and competence the installers had

These are the other threads I could find on the OPs problem.
Surfsister can I suggest that you stop keep opening new threads on the subject of your Zenith windows and keep on this thread, most people aren't going to go wandering round looking for them. Without context it's hard for people to suggest solutions.Make £2024 in 2024

thanks slinky!
Latest info had the report done and it's dire dire dire.
Zenith made an appointment to send an installation manger from another branch to do another report - waited all morning nobody turned up. I rang that branch and they knew nothing about it!
The whole thing seems to be one big scam!
Still as I haven't paid think now I will just give up.0 -
Can you get FENSA/CERTASS involved? especially if you want them to put it right regardless of whether you've paid.
I do not understand the short term view of these companies, I had 3 zenith windows fitted in 2000. They made such a bodge that I would never use them again, and I've had 16 windows fitted since 2000!0 -
I wish I had known what you experienced before! Thanks I tried Fensa and they were hopeless but haven't tried Certass. Really want another firm to replace the windows as they look as if the Chuckle Brothers fitted them!!
I had a really cheap job done at previous home and 9 years on they were fine - everything opened and closed smoothly - no drafts and looked 100%0 -

I am puzzled abot the endless saga. Everything sounds so simple ... in theory! You say you have not paid, so the answer is rip out the windows and start again with a competent company. To do this you have to have your actions covered to date. Then away you go.
It is pointless keep popping at Zenith. Everybody knows they are useless. This includes you. At what point do you say " I am being proactive, and I am going to sort this"?0
