Get in touch with them and ask them what's going on.
Meanwhile, check your contract carefully and see what it will take for you to cancel it, whether you have to pay them or not.

It has been nearly two years that a PPI claims company collected all my documents to claim mis-sold PPI for me, and since then no one bother to call or get intouch with me for a feedback.
Is this normal and how long for a claim to come through, l will like someone to please advice me more on this.

Most claims companies do little more than collect the forms from you and send them on and then sit back and wait. So, in that respect the claims company service seems normal. You should have had letters from the financial services firm saying what the status of the complaint is. If you havent then it would appear the claims company hasnt sent the forms to them.

  • Have gone through the Ombudsman PPI process with American Express (AMEX) and, further to AMEX turning down any such claim I got in touch with the Financial Ombudsman Service only to be informed as follows:

They have advised that even though AMEX was a member of the GISC/MCCB when it sold the PPI it actually also became an appointed representative of business which is not directly authorised by the FSA and as such are unable to consider our claim.

However they may be able to consider against the underwriter of the PPI policy.

Is there anybody out there that might be able to shed any light on this situation, perhaps experienced the same themselves or perhaps could advise who the underwriter might be?!?! or even whether it's really worth the bother!!!!

    Thanks so much in advance

There is a very very tiny minority of cases where the insurer carries liability. Not the retailer. It is very small number of cases but the FOS tell everyone to try. I think the only one we have seen success with here is Genworth/Santander.

FInd out who the underwriter is and complaint to them. Ask the FOS.

You're probably not going to be in luck though.

  • received response from the ombudsman in relation to american express complaint. The Ombudsman claim that "they can't consider my complaint against american express because the ppi policy was sold before 14 january 2005- the date when all businesses selling insurance became regulated"

    can this be right?
I thought PPI claims can go back further?

Hello wondered whether anyone could help. I put in a complaint regarding mis selling PPI and they have not upheld it, stating that only cases over 120 months including payment protection qualify. Also they have stated "in addition to the above I would advise you that, when proceeding with the optional PPI you were provided with fa discount of £817 which would not have been available if the PPI policy had not been taken". This is where I rest my case I was literally blackmailed you take this policy out. Where do,I go from here please?

if it was sold prior to January 2005, nowhere.
If it was sold after that, the FOS.
