    You say you only have a few thousand to invest so small changes in percentage platform fees will probably make little difference. For example, on say £10,000, platform charges for the full year would be:
    HL @ 0.45% = £45
    Fidelity @ 0.35% = £35
    Charles Stanley @ 0.25% = £25
    Obviously for larger investments the differences become more substantial and equally for those one would consider a flat fee based platform of which there aren't many but Interactive Investor springs to mind at £90 per year.
