Dealing with unreachable conveyancer

Options
I’m due to complete over the next 3 weeks and I’m just wondering what would be the best way to deal with my unapproachable conveyancer.

Getting to exchange was a miracle, especially as seller was now threatening to withdraw from sale. It honestly feels as if the conveyancer is working against my interests.

Leading up to completion I’m expecting that in addition to the contract aspects, that she will also apply for my Help To Buy ISA bonus. As it stands, she has my Help To Buy closure statement, but then has not yet requested me to complete the First time buyer declaration. I’m worried she won’t apply for my Help To Buy ISA bonus, which is money I really need.

I was wondering if people have any advise on how can ensure she applied for it? That failing, I wonder if it’s possible to bring her to account.

Please advise.

Is this one of those useless conveyancing shops where there are 50 herberts in a shed and one solicitor overseeing them, or is it a proper firm?

I get the impression it’s one of those shops where a bunch of conveyancers are being supervised by one solicitor. I actually only figured out this week that she isn’t a solicitor in the traditional sense (law degree & LPC).

The firm was imposed on me by the developer. Otherwise I had in mind who I really wanted, I just felt compelled to go with the developers sway as I was worried that not going with hem would complicate things. Little did I realise that it could cause me problems. It’s a learning experience for me.

All you can really do is contact them daily/every couple of days to see what!!!8217;s going on. If you phone, always follow up with an email just to confirm what you have spoken about in writing. Make sure you ask the specific questions (when you do get through) rather than just ask for a general update.

Hopefully you!!!8217;ve only got a few weeks to go, and you can complete and forget about it all.

    Thanks. That’s really useful.

It honestly seems as if one has to handle it like they would work politics and yet it’s a consultant to client relationship. Utterly bizarre!
