Ebay buyer paid but wants me to hold off posting.

Hi all,

I've just had a message from an ebay buyer, they won the item last nite, then paid this morning and sent me a message asking me not to post the item until mid July. The item is not high value (approx £15). I'm not a business and the whole idea of ebay for me is to clear stuff out, not be holding it for 6 weeks.

Am I being unreasonable if I refund and cancel the transaction?

Thankyou

Well you are supposed to send within 7 days, and also you risk a defect for late shipment.

It's up to you how you handle it, I don't think it's unreasonable to cancel in those circumstances.

    What is there feedback like?

If someone purchased from me and had good feedback I wouldn't have an issue holding onto the item for a few weeks especially as they have already paid.

Maybe they're on holiday or something.

For six weeks? Possible but seems a bit unlikely.

They should not have bid, so cancel.

Even though you'd get a defect for late postage and lose your seller protection?

New rules on eBay mean sellers have to protect their accounts first and for most.

Also 6 weeks is suspiciously the amount of time that would leave the OP out of time to open any case , or leave feedback.

But would it not also be out of time for the buyer to open a case then?

No, and due to late postage, no seller protection.

Nope, the buyer puts themselves in an excellent position as an ebay claim can be done up to 30 days after the last estimated delivery date (taken from date of posting) and a paypal claim for 180 days.
