Damp, woodworm and lower valuation- survey

The latter, they bought it to do up and move on. It had been repossessed I think and they bought it.
I did call the surveyor and it wasn't very reassuring. He was the one who said to check if they'd negotiate before forking for damp surveys etc, and if not, walk away.0 -
Update on this!
We went back to the agent with the survey and asked if they'd allow us to get a damp specialist in, and also told them it had been undervalued. The vendor said they would not negotiate on price at all and got their own guy in, with a report they said they'd send us. The agents said the vendor would carry out recommended works but not lower the price. They asked for our instructions and we said they depended on seeing the reports.
No contact for a week and no response to our phone calls, and today finally find out they took the sold signs down a week ago and the vendor accepted a higher offer (despite us making ours subject to the property coming off the market) and basically told us to eff off. So that's that.0 -
Lucky escape.
They didn't do it up at all. It makes my blood boil that people profit from papering over the cracks, literally. I don't know how they sleep.
Rinse and repeat your situation with other potential buyers until someone doesn't opt for a proper survey. It's common, so they'll get away with it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
