Anyone know when strawberry plants go on sale at b&q?

I'm after some strawberry plants, a couple years ago I bought tray of 6 for £2 which is a fair price IMHO.

The standard £1 a plant feels a bit steep to me. Just curious as to what time of the year they'll start slashing costs and clearing out plants.

In my experience they slash the prices when it's too late!

Have you tried homebase? I paid around 2 quid for a tray of six from there weeks ago. I've already had the first ripe fruit.

I bought a planter of 6 for £3 a few days ago. Some already have fruits on.
    Loving the sunny days!

I decided against buying any more plants. They do multiply quite easily and send runners off. I should be able to get new plants from runners very easily.
  • We have not bought strawberry plants for over 20 years we bought Cambridge Favourite plants in 1994 and have rooted the runners every year. We work on a three year rotation, plants we put in 3 years ago will be dug up and composted this year. We have a new bed ready for the runners. So far in the last week we have picked over 5lbs of fruit.

As we have moved the plants have moved with us.
