Nationwide flex one account

Ive had a nationwide flex one account since i was 16 and ive just turned 18 and i want to switch banks because my nearest branch is too far away. On here there are offers for getting cash for switching accounts but i was wondering would i be able to do this as this account was started as a child account or does that not matter. If you need any more info then just ask

Assuming it is now a normal current account then yes you can. Do take care to observe any conditions in the switching offer, e.g. required number of direct debits.

Do not burn your bridges with Nationwide just yet . Clearly you have a banking record with them. Were you to leave then you would have no accounts that can add to your credit history as much as Nationwide.


Consider opening new accounts rather than a transfer at present. Once you have a surplus of accounts you can transfer the worst value for a better deal but keep the best/oldest accumulating a good credit history.

If you have any intention of overseas travel I recommend that you keep your FlexOne account as it is for a long as possible, because the debit card has zero fees for foreign use, both purchase and cash withdrawal. Apparently there is no need to discontinue it on reaching 18yrs.

Just open another (normal current) account or two elsewhere, switch them when bonus opportunities arise, there's no need to limit yourself to one account.

Keep the FlexOne and open an another elsewhere.
