I have been looking for some genuine Ford service items for my car and several dealers use ebay and list cheaper than over the counter.

For some odd reason its showing me a seller from Germany?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sandicliffeshopuk/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/trust-ford/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

If i type the word Mondeo in either of those and it finds nothing?? Yet they have lots of items listed with that word in the title.

Sorted by price low to high inc p&p

    Try searching for things on Amazon .... !!!128563;

eBay's a slick machine compared to that.

Yes Amazon has its quirks also. No items found then in the suggestions below was the item i wanted.

If i type a search word or several words why is it so hard to show the items with that exact title?

I've never noticed a problem with ebay search and I've been using ebay a lot for nearly 15 years, mainly as a buyer. I find the options work really well to give complete results and the refining and advanced options are great. (Saved searches are rubbish and annoying though).
Amazon, though .. unreal, it's a nightmare trying to get a complete picture of what's actually on there when you're browsing.

Try my links above swapping the search results from lowest inc P&P to best match. Search word Mondeo

Why does lowest first show nothing but change that to best match brings out 533 results for the 1st link.

2nd link shows nothing when viewed by lowest, but 2951 when using best match.

The search has been broken for years now, I've posted about it several times before. We use a PC and mobile devices in the house and it is not uncommon for my husband to see something he wants on ebay, but when I log into my main buying account on the PC to buy it I cannot find it even using the identical search. That's the same search, 2 different pieces of hardware at the same time, and different results.

One of the times I posted here concerned a hat I wanted, using the term navy wedding hat at different times during the day resulted in a huge variation of items found, from memory it was as low as 12 items up to over 100 with many of the returns being GTC listings that had not just been put up.

On the US forums they talk about this a lot and have run experiments with several people using the same search term and getting different results within 15 minutes of each other trying.

It appears you copied the link with other filters like "manual" selected.

i remember about 15 years ago, I was discussing buying a small boat on ebay with a boating friend. We chatted over the phone while both of us did searches. Items came up in exactly the same order on both our screens. He would say something like look at the third boat, that looks like a good buy and when I looked at the third boat, it was the same listing as he was looking at.

Things must have changed then according to the above posts. Could it be that a sort of random element has been introduced so that not just one seller always comes first in the list. It would certainly help many sellers to reach more potential buyers.

Manual? Nope this is for car parts not cars. Its the sellers shop. The Sandicliffe one shows 6,888 parts.

Sort lowest price = zero items

Sort by best match = 553 items

    Changing nothing else.

Yeah if you had the sort by set the same then it used to be identical, but i bought an item a while back that didnt show in a search.

Search for the item nothing found, even selecting show items from this seller = zero items. The only way to find it was use the listing number. I only knew about it because they posted the link on a forum.

I thought it maybe dodgy but no it arrived safe and sound.
