Although it is on Grand Designs this is being run by CLC who are on the banned list but not sure if it needs to be removed as the terms say they will only contact you if you have ticked to allow them too.Not sure if I have the right company but it might be the ones who contact you telling you that you have won a holiday and then want you to attend a sales pitch or something.

Is this the term you mean? I read it as they'd only contact you with offers other than the holiday if you've ticked it.

If it needs to be removed then that's ok. I received it in a Grand Designs email. Better to be safe than sorry :o

Yes that is why I said I wasn't sure if it should be removed or not. I don't know how it all works with regards to companies who are banned so will leave it up to whoever to say what should be done.
  • Yes it is the company who phone you saying you've won a 'free' holiday- just have to go to a sales pitch and pay for flights etc. I entered this from somewhere else and got that phone call :)

Just tick you don’t live with your spouse and earn under £35k and they won’t bother trying to sell you a timeshare
  • I got a call from them earlier to say i had won free accommodation in a choice of 4 destinations for myself and my family - and all I have to do it pay for flights and book an appt at their travel centre. sounded a bit suspect to me - like a time share company as they ask earnings and status etc.

I've had a few of these free holidays and they can work well for you if you play along. They will phone you, say you've won a holiday and ask you a few questions about employment, earnings and marital staus. You will have to book your own flights but accommodation is free. The deal is that you will need to attend a sales pitch, (the length of time is usually mentioned in the details), and they will try to sell you a timeshare.

I used to be in high pressure sales so I know all the things that they might say and how to counter them.

You can play it 2 ways.

    1. The hot headed approach.

Go to the meeting early on in the holiday and just keep saying no. After the agreed time tell them you have kept your end of the bargain to attend the meeting, walk out and enjoy the rest of your holiday.

    2. You really want to buy one but they won't be able to sell you one.

Tell them that you are really interested in investing, I've even asked to be given a premium room if there is one so that I can get a feel for the one I want to buy. At the end of the meeting tell them you're really interested and you hope that they will be able to overcome the 5 county court judgements you have against you. Their face will drop as there is no way you will get finace. Say, "Oh! Did I not mention that and walk out.

If they have given you a premium room no. 2 is best done near the end of the holiday because they will almost certainly move you to a standard room.
The bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the sweet taste of cheap price has faded away. :wall:
