My partner and I want to travel to the USA later this year, I am currently looking into the visa waiver programme however it is not clear whether or not my partner will be accepted with a DD?
His conviction was approx 9 to 10 years ago, was banned for a period of time, fined and did community service. No other convictions what so ever before or after....
Can anyone assist with this please, all threads i have found to date are 3-4 years old so not sure how in date they are?

Do you mean ESTA.
If so its a while since I applied.
what is the question relating to that conviction0 -
A stand alone drink driving conviction would not be considered a 'crime of moral turpitude' if that's what you want to know OP.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

He'll be fine. Just go to the ESTA website and start the application, answer the questions honestly and wait for the result.
There is no such thing as the visa waiver program anymore:DThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

The visa waiver program is still going and an ESTA is part of this, something that is stated when you apply for one:NEW APPLICANTS
Apply for a New ESTA
All eligible international travelers who wish to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorization.0 -

Sorry I meant in the context of what the OP was having to apply for.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. US Embassy advice is to apply for a visa if unsure.
Drink driving can be a crime if moral turpitude. An ex-colleague of mine was unable to travel on a visa waiver as he got pulled over for drink driving at the age of 20 and had two minors as passengers; making it an act of moral turpitude.0 -
This might be an issue from 2020 with the ETIAS (EU ESTA) when travelling into the Schengen zone.
When is a criminal record not a criminal record. Who decides? There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
But apply for the esta before booking anything.0
