Virgin Mobile price increase 1 month after upgrade.

Oh have I had fun with Virgin Mobile.
I got a Sony from them months ago but they put me on the wrong contact, after I contacted head office it was corrected but I choose to cancel the whole thing.
The sim was still active when i got an email to upgrade to an iPhone 8. I took up the offer for £28 per month. 1 month later I get an email saying the price was hiking but it says I can opt to leave.
Anyone had any experience with this?
