Changing architect/structural engineer for extension?

Currently have a project looking to convert a bungalow to a property with two floors. After working with the architect (recommended by a friend) we have the designs and the planning permission has been granted to do this work. My architect has been good so far but I've lost contact with him for other a month and haven't been able to get any response despite phone/email/voicemail etc.
The next stage of the project is to get a specification from the structural engineer/construction drawings so we can get an accurate quotation form builders. As our architect is no longer responding, is it necessary to find a new one at this stage as most of the work has been completed? I am considering finding a structural engineer myself to get the final drawings, but not sure how difficult this would be.
I'd be grateful for any advice people have.

It gwnuinely doesn't matrer who you use as structural engineer.
Producing drawings for building regs might cost more than ising the original architect, but if you have the .dwg files, it may not be too painful.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I don't have any .dwg files, but I have .PDFs of the drawings....0

no architect is going to issue dwg files to a client tbh
Structural engineers will take the drawings you have and do their stuff, can you go to the architects office and see them?
No reason to stop you approaching a few engineers for quotesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I will take a look for structural engineers, wasn't sure where to start looking. The architect is self employed so it would mean going to their home address....0

As long as you own the drawings, it is relatively straightforward to convert pdf's to dwg's. Whichever structural engineering firm you use will have a draftsman who is able to do that. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
