What to expect between exchange and completion?

Options
This sounds like a silly question, but I was wondering if moneysaveds would be so kind enough to give me a summary run down of what happens between exchange and completion, in particular pitfalls I should be aware of.

The process leading up to my exchange wasn’t particularly pleasant. I have a conveyancer who doesn’t seem to have my interests and I had to ask questions and prompt her on many things. I even almost risked the sale as she didn’t ask me to send the deposit money within a specific timeframe. I had to be prompted by the developer. She sent me the contract at the 11th hour and didn’t even have time to discuss the content.

The process has been a case of me groping about in the dark. Leading up to the exchange I’ve been asking many questions through this forum and also asking peers/friends who have bought their own places.

I’m aware that there’s more that needs to be done leading up to the completion so I will need to be prompting her. I was wondering what pitfalls people would advise I should pay attention to?
