JD Williams pointed me to....

"Ryan Direct Group".

Morning guys, first post here but this site is my go to when I'm unsure of anything financially. I usually find an answer so I've not joined up before.

Bit of back ground, I've never taken out a loan or had a credit card ( before the regulations changed) so never thought I would be entitled to a PPI claim.

I've recently found out that it's possible I could claim for a PPI refund from catalogues and my bank overdraft (I always wrongly assumed that PPI was solely for personal loans, mortgages etc).

I've applied for a PPI check via resolver site from Shop Direct, Santander and JD Williams.

I've received a reply from JD Williams and they've just told me to contact the Ryan Direct Group as they handle their claims. I'm not sure if there's wires crossed somewhere. Has anybody else had a claim with these guys and been told the same thing?

Thanks guys

It sounds as if they think you want to make a claim, rather than a complaint. Did you tell them you wanted to claim?

Contact them directly and tell them it is a mis selling complaint.

I think the Resolver PPI checker is pretty explicit in the information request it makes, so it would be odd indeed if "JD Williams" have referred the OP to their insurer mistaking a claim for a complaint.

Instead, I expect "JD Williams" are telling the OP to contact Ryan Direct Group because the potential "complaint" is pre-regulation.
  • I made a PPI claim against J D Williams a couple of years ago and they rejected it - can't remember exact wording - I then referred it to the Ombudsman who said that whatever it was was no covered by the PPI rules - very strange as I had a claim from Shop Direct - which was also a mail order catalogue. Does anybody know if the Plevin ruling will make any different to this now

No. Plevin only applies to PPI. If you didnt have PPI, then Plevin cannot apply.
