English Heritage Membership

Hi Everyone,

I just wondered if anyone knows if English Heritage Membership Cards can be used by other people?
It feels like this shouldn't be possible or people would do it all the time, but hey, thought I would ask anyway!

On the back of the card it reads "This card is non-transferable". This means you are not allowed to give it to other people for them to use.

Okay thanks Kuratowski. I wonder how you have to prove it's yours?

I've never been asked to prove it, and when I worked for EH we never asked either. I suppose in theory they could, but I doubt they would.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

When we got ours, it asks for age and gender but there is no photo so I guess providing the holder of the card fits the general description, it could be done . I mean if my son wanted to use ours, it would be a bit odd for a 30 ish man to be carrying a 50 ish man's card so if that comes up on their computer when you submit the card, it might cause questions to be asked.

Thanks for the replies :) My partner's mum and step-dad are members, they're in their 50s and we're in our 20s so I don't think we will try and borrow theirs :rotfl:

    How about paying?
What you are suggesting is fraud and it sounds as though you aren't asking questions about the rules but how you might get away with it.
This site is for saving money legitimately by fraud.

As a moneysaving suggestion if you are in london, liverpool, brighton, birmingham, blackpool or manchester and travel by train then daysoutguide offers many 2 for 1 offers and I've found lots of english heritage sites on there.

I haven't looked at the card, as stated above if they say "This card is non-transferable" and I do not fit the general description of the members I won't be using it.
Although I am sure I would not be the first person to use some sort of membership/discount etc. not actually intended for myself.

What does "This site is for saving money legitimately by fraud." mean?
