Is this conveyancing fee too high?

Options
I've just been quoted £1900 by a well respected local solicitor to handle the sale of my current home, and purchase of a new property.

The fee seems high, but it's 18 years since I last moved house. Is it too much?

    Does that include stamp duty?

I paid about that for just a purchase (inc stamp duty) so I!!!8217;d say that was a good deal.

Without stamp duty I have no idea. Compare a few quotes to get a feel for the market

for a purchase AND a sale that seems good

I paid £750 for my sale and £1000 for an abortive purchase (that would have been £1345 had I completed) all without Stamp Duty

Depends what you get for your money.

Are you buying leasehold or selling leasehold are disbursements included in that figure.

Is the solicitor good and come with great recommendations to give you a speedy well constructed service. I have been known to pay a little more in the past for a very thorough solicitor who left nothing to chance and chased and updated regularly

At this point without seeing the rest of the quote its hard to establish whether the end figure is realistic.

Shop around and get some quotes from other local solicitors.
I understand that property transactions are hardly at an all time high at the moment so prices should be quite competitive.

That looks pretty standard to me and it's a lot less than most EAs charge.

575 & 700 are by no means excessive.

Similar to what I paid - think it was £1800-ish for similar services.
