Faulty Fridge/Freezer

My disabled 86 year old mother in law bought a fridge/freezer from Currys in January 2017. She took out Currys Extended warranty. She has been told that an engineer will not call for 10 days. It is 26c, surely that is unacceptable. Are the Curry store not legally obliged to assist sooner than 10 days? She cannot get out on her own. If we take her out she is in a wheelchair.

Has the MOT expired? (posted in motoring)
What does the warranty say about repair times? Your extended warranty is not with the store.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
An oil change and a quick blast up the road should cure it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

Looks like you're shopping for her, then. She cannot get out on her own. If we take her out she is in a wheelchair.

Our Curry store, or Indian restaurant if you will, delivers in about 30 mins.

You could (if your MIL is housebound/not able to get out on her own) argue that they're unable to effect a repair within a reasonable time/without causing significant inconvenience. But they could also ask your MIL to prove the lack of conformity is inherent and if she does that, all it would really do is entitle her to a refund which may be partial and may still be a few weeks waiting on the refund. You'd also still have the time period waiting for delivery of the new one.
How about explaining to currys and asking if they have any small display fridges she could borrow for a few days until hers is repaired? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Fortunately having gone to her house, the problem is a double socket. The one the fridge freezer was plugged into is faulty but the other one is ok so will need to check out the socket. At least she has a fridge again.0

I hope you changed the oil while you were there just to be on the safe side. And checked the tyre pressures and all the fluid levels. You can't be too careful.0 -

Don't forget to turn the engine off before opening up the bonnet.0 -
you can buy mini portable fridges can't you that just plug into the wall (not the 'banter-lad beer ones', but actual fridges with shelves etc)?
Not sure how big they are but might be worth investing in one, even as a backup.0 -

Thats a cheap fix then....as for the point about Currys not calling an engineer in 10 days if it is 26c outside on their extended warranty, now would be the time to cancel it and claim a full refund for mis-selling- use the money and buy a secondhand fridge and freezer incase of issues in the future.0
