Bought car V5 not signed
Options
Bought a car today. Dealer sent his man to drive it the 30 miles back to me, and I drove him back. Transferred the money. Seemed legit. I have a full V5 though - section 9 is still attached.
We didn't sign section 8, nor section 6.
I don't think I've been stitched up because he's replied to my text querying with "don't worry just send it off it's in the trade".
I've insured and taxed it because I have the V5C/2. But I got concerned because it says section 6 and 8 MUST be signed.
Will it be okay? I really am not willing to forge anyone's signature.

Do it online in the morning and you will most likely get your replacement v5 by this time next week.0

Yup. Not a problem. Just remember to chase things up if you don't receive your new V5.0

You could get your 5 year old to sign it with their feet because nobody takes any notice0

Did you tax it using the number on the "new keeper slip" off the rear page of the V5?
I'm fairly sure it would have asked for your name & address then as you are a new keeper, this ought to generate a new V5 anyway, but who knows with "modern" "computerised" "systems" :undecided
If you taxed it with the number on the front, then you can kiss goodbye to the money, as the tax is automatically refunded to the previous keeper when you become the new keeper. (You will then need to tax it again.....)
I wonder if there is enough joined up thinking to tax it in the new keeper's name if you take the "new keeper" slip to the Post Office, before the DVLA get the V5??????I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
