Hi All,
Im looking to install some soffit lights on the lowest level of soffit on my house. I'm trying to work out the best way of wiring it into the circuit.
I want to install 4 x IP65 downlights. I also want to wire in a dusk until dawn sensor with timer built in. The 4 lights will the run off this sensor and there will be no other physical switch to override this.
Has anyone done this? If so where did you take the power from?
Thanks

I did something similar and took the power from the outside light near the front door. I included that in the circuit as well so they all come on dusk to dawn. They all use low power LEDs of a couple of watts each.
This means they can also be separately switched if necessary by using the outside light switch.0 -

The soffit looks like it has been overclad. If so what is behind it - asbestos board? The house looks fairly modern but there is no guarantee here .
Are soffit lights really the priority or should you first be maintenance like repairing the mortar bedding under the tiles? If you start drilling the soffit it looks like these could fall away. Even the downpipe joint is bodged - is it leaking, or has it just been hacked at then glued? Plus there are no brackets to take the outlet.
The golden rule with homes is always tackle the important things and then decide on fads, fripperies, and such like if there is still money left over.0
