Insurance for lodge in UK

Hi

I have booked a lodge for myself and 5 friends to stay in for my birthday in August. (In Scotland and I reside in Scotland)

Unfortunately my dad has terminal cancer and we are day/weeks to the end. It was booked while I knew he had terminal cancer but we didn't realise it would be so soon.

Is there any kind of insurance I can take out as I don't want my friends to lose out if it needs to be cancelled. I know they will understand if it needs cancelled and I would want them to go in any event, but I just want a back up in case.

I know a lot of insurances are only if it was undiagnosed before hand, so not sure if there is anything out there available.

thanks in advance.

It's unlikely you will find cover against cancellation due to this issue

Your best bet is for your friends to plan to go without you if the worst happens. I understand they may not want to in the circumstances, in which case perhaps each can refund their own share of the cost and you won't be too out of pocket?

Your friends can still go, can even take someone else in your place.

As this is a ''pre''condition no insurance policy will cover you - if they did I would expect the premium to be in the region of the cost of the holiday!

Hope things work out ok for you.
