Removing an extension from a BT socket?

I have a master socket which goes off to an extension in another room. I want to remove the extension.

Am I able to remove the two wires on the extension cable going to 'AB' and connect two wires from the master cable in to 'AB' instead? Although the cables on the extension cable are different colours. The two wires currently going into 'AB' from the extension are solid white and orange but the master cable colours have small, different colours dots on them.

Thanks

BELOW, THE BLACK CABLE ON THE LEFT IS THE EXTENSION - RIGHT CABLE IS THE MAIN. Note the wires from the extension cable going into 'AB' - Can I remove these and utilise a two wires from the master black line? Although they are diffrent colours..

    Its never easy is it!

The Orange and white wires in your top photo (going to A and B) are (should be) the wires going to the exchange, leave them well alone.

To kill the extension socket it should be a simple matter of removing the Blue/white pair.

    Agreed.

The wiring on the extension looks odd. Only the blue/white and white/blue wires, to the extension, have been connected at the master but these plus what looks a like brown and white pair have been connected at the extension.

Just curious - why do you want to remove the extension socket? You could just disconnect the wires, as suggested by kev and put a blanking plate over the extension box. That would make it easier to reinstate the socket in future.
