Light weight hedge trimmer

Stihl do good quality, not cheap though.
Electric - HKE 71K 5.6kg
Cordless is better (lighter), but add a battery or two and charger and the price goes through the roof.0 -
Cordless machines are a bit lighter but not a lot due to the battery. That said you can get battery packs that go on a back pack which make the machines very light. The machines are easier to hold too as there is no hot exhaust or fumes. All in all they are a lot easier to handle even for petite women! Gtec produce good machines.
There's some info here which might help:

I bought a Gtech HT20 recently as I can't manage the petrol trimmer OH used. I have a very long beech hedge.
The Gtech is very much a compromise - it's nothing like as efficient as the petrol trimmer, but I knew it wouldn't be. Because the blade is short it requires more 'sweeps' and it often requires more than one 'pass'. However, it's definitely manageable, which was the biggest consideration.
Because the head can be angled, it's easy to find a comfortable working position. My hedge is taller than me and it's easy to cut the top with the Gtech. The battery lasts longer than I had anticipated and charges more quickly than the documentation suggests. Having used it, bearing in mind my need for something I could manage, I'm happy with my purchase and I'd recommend it for someone with the same requirement.
I also bought the branch cutter attachment, but I would not recommend that. It's shown in action in this clip, but that's not how I've found it. I thought initially that the blade wasn't properly tightened as it stops spinning so readily - it was. I've gone back to loppers.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

I have the worx cordless hedge trimmer and its very light even with battery compared with my old cheap corded one and seems to do the jobs (a few large shrubs) I want anyway maybe not so good for big jobs http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6197450
Its on offer at mo. I really bought it at xmas because I needed another worx battery which would be £35 and at the time it was cheap then as well, think I paid around £55-£600 -
I bought my wife an Einhell corded pole hedge trimmer. It isn't that lightweight but the motor is at the handle end which makes the tool very well balanced and reduces fatigue considerably.

I'm looking for one on a large pole with a battery. Will probably plunge for the GTec0
