The only reason that I raise it is because I recently had an EPC carried out on my home which has a high efficiency boiler and Evohome zoning controlled by Opentherm. My heating system got 4 out of 5 stars. I contacted BRE - the organisation that is responsible for the EPC software/database - and was told that 5 stars is reserved for CHP boilers. Clearly, BRE thinks that there are energy efficiencies to be made. Whether any energy savings translate into an economic proposition would require further research. Given your annual usage, CHP would be a better proposition for you than for me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I had another look around for CHP boilers. Whereas there is a number of semi-academic articles to be found via Google, it is more difficult to find suppliers who are still interested in providing domestic CHP in the domestic UK market. The idea is excellent, but there is very little market interest.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Sterlingtimes wrote: »The tariffs may not be directly comparable but my calculations are meticulous. Based upon 5,306 kWh of electricity per annum and 22,773 kWh of gas per annum, the OVO annual charge on a two-year fixed tariff is £1,822. Economy Energy comes in at £1,366 per annum. I accept that the latter company could hike its tariffs
I am on an OVO 2 year fixed tariff - switched Sept 2017. I am in the same area as you and on my tariff your consumption above would cost £1,450*.
I pay 11.96p/kWh and 2.66p/kWh with a daily standing charge of 28.77p for gas and the same for electricity. These prices include VAT.
* I get get an on-line discount of approx £60 a year which would bring the total to approx £1,390.
Presumably you are on a different 2 year fix with OVO?0 -

Thank you, Cardew. Yes, the rates are different. S/C is 27.40p for each. Then gas 3.22p per kWh and electric 14.32p per kWh. You have a great fix!I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
The trouble with OVO is that their SC is a killer for low users.0

So from Economy I will pay:
Gas >>> Standing charge 29.04p per day >>> 2.13p per kWh
Electric >>> Standing charge 22.05p per day >>> 11.72p per kWh
The fixed term is 12 Months (outstanding OVO fixed term was 18 months so not quite like-for-like).
Saving is an incredible £441.36 a year against Ovo. Incremental gas usage is cheap.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -

Does anyone know whether any other energy supplier offers such a service? An alternative would be a supplier that allows connectivity between a computer and the Smart Meter.
You could try Glow Zigbee CAD for Smart meters if it is compatible with your meter.0 -

Thank you, Green Hornet. I also saw this product when I received an email from Energy Hive. Do you know whether access can be achieved without usernames, passwords etc.?
Late PS. There is a contentious posting on the Ovo forums concerning access. One person managed to gain access but he had a difficult time obtaining it.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -

I haven't used it myself, just came across it as I have Energy Hive. Probably best to contact their customer service department by email at support@glowmarkt.com.0
