12 Months On - My time to reflect - it's REALLY all over

I must admit that I thought this thread would have been well and truly 'buried' by now. When I originally posted I had only intended to put in writing my thoughts over how the process had affected my life, and that of my family, and to voice my relief that the process was, now, finally over.
I had absolutely no idea that my 'ramblings' would have generated so many messages of support, both on the thread and by PM.
Every time I look at all of your messages it brings a tear to my eyes. Just over a year ago I was wondering just how I would face bankruptcy on my own. At that time the 'Bankruptcy Club & Supporters Club' was just a single thread, albeit growing by the minute, on the main DFW board. The 'brainchild of one Mike St Helens has grown into a Mine of Information and Haven of Support for people who, beforehand, faced the prospect of dealing with the inevitable trauma of the 'minefield' that is Bankruptcy on their own.
Very few public forums can boast the combined knowledge and experience of this board. With the 'encyclopeadic' mind of posters such as fermi, Debt-Doctor, Richard_S and many, many more of you, it is no wonder that many of us come to this board as 'quivering wrecks' yet develope a knowledge that not only enables us to overcome the 'inherent fear' of Bankruptcy, but to act as 'guides' and 'support' so that others can face this process without the trepidation that our 'creditors' try their hardest to instill in us.
On a personal front, I am driven, by your support, and am more than ever determined to get my life 'back on track'. I have taken on a part-time job, delivering for 'ASDA' Home Shopping, whilst I build up my business again - this time with the 'protection' of a limited company. None of this would have been possible without the help and support that I have received from this forum, and I hope that my experiences can help others to face the same situation without fear.
Simply pressing the 'Thanks' button is not sufficient to express my gratitude. Long may this board survive, and grow in strength, as a true source of Advice and Support.Thank You AllI am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Rog, I don't often visit the BR board, and even less often post, but it is clear from this thread alone that you have helped a great deal of people during pretty bleak times. This, however, as you point out, came in turn from receiving similar support from others who had also "been there, done that".
Long may this cycle of support remain, and I hope that there are other similar supportive threads in 12 months time, as it will show that there are "survivors" out there, helping others with "real" life experiences and support.
I wish you all the very best,

Hello Rog
I have only read this post this evening and I am very glad it was there on page 1 for me to find.
Your excellent post sets out how good folk can be overwhelmed by debt, despite their best effort and entrepreneurial endeavour.
Congratulations on your new job - after being your own boss for so long it may feel strange, but enjoy letting someone else carry responsibility for a while.
Best wishes

Well this is my first post, iv'e always been a bit of a lurker and have read your posts with interest. I just had to say well done Rog, iv'e followed your story and it breaks my heart to think what you've been through. We are in debt and have been offered various ways out by different companies- mainly IVA's and by using this site have been able to reduce our debts claim money back and generally deal with it. I have to say that the bit about MBNA really struck home, what a bunch- they have never heard of the word negotiate. Good luck in the future whatever you turn your hand to.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Hi Rog,
I was wondering if you would allow me to copy your post on another forum? It's a current affairs forum, obviously I would not post your username. It's beautifully written and embodies the difficulties faced by people in the UK today.
I'd appreciate your consent, if you'd prefer I didn't, clearly I won't copy it.

I have pm'd you, sam - I have no problems with you 'copying' my post to another forum, provided that it is a forum that is sympathetic to the aims/ethos of the DFW Forum. Please let me know what the forum is. I would also, if possible, like you to mention this forum, and the help it provides to people like myself.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
