The new smart TV has no scart sockets. On ebay the cables seem to be for the playstation and may not support volume. Then I came across SCART To HDMI Adapter Converter Audio Video Composite TV DVD SkyBox USB UK Plug. It is more expensive but does anyone know if it will work?

Did your new TV not come with a three phono socket adapter for composite video? If so get a Scart to three phono lead. Bearing in mind composite is the lowest for video signal quality apart from RF.
Or you can purchase DVD players with HDMI output from £30 upwards. Blu-Ray players from about £50.0 -
That adaptor should work.
I use something similar, although I paid a little more for mine.
All you can do is try it.
Looking at the description it suggests it's composite only. So you might have to make sure your DVD player wasn't set to output RGB?
The quality is likely to be less than RGB Scart to RGB Scart.0 -
Does your DVD player not have a HDMI socket? If not getting one that does won't be much more expensive and will likely give you better picture quality.0

Thanks all round.
There is a choice of DVD with HDMI players at under £30 so this has become a no brainier.0
