This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone.
It's been glorious here since very early on. Long may it continue.
Yesterday DM came along for the shopping trip which meant two supermarkets and the post office. Afterwards we went to visit her neighbour who is hospital because of a very nasty fall. I'm glad we did that even though it made me leave Glasgow later than I wanted.
Getting home was a real slog! There was so much traffic heading towards Loch Lomond that cars were queuing from the Erskine Bridge, through Dumbarton and past Balloch. I've never seen it like that without roadworks to cause it. Sheer volume of traffic. Anyway, I made it and was slow enough to find the Chinese takeaway open. :j. The young chap behind the counter was very chatty as his confidence and knowledge of English have both improved a lot.
Now I'll put a washing load on. Then I hope to get the grass cut. The bark should be getting spread on the front garden later this afternoon and I've got a piece of marking to do.
I hope that everyone is doing well or (at least) hanging on despite trials and tribulations.

June? Did I sleep for a month?0

Morning Gers and all.
We've had thunder, lightening, torrential rain and massive hailstones during the night. I was aware of them but if didn't disturb my sleep too badly. I don't know what today will bring but a massive clean up operation is high on the list. Wish me luck I've got to uproot Youngest from his pc chair.
Dimpsey do you have to nitpick? Regular on the daily thread are you?
Onwards and forwards

Morning folks and thanks GERS. A glorious start here too and forecast to remain so all day. The nice weatherman says the rain heading upwards will kindly veer off to the west before it gets to us!
I put a big washload in earlier and that is still languishing in the wm so will peg that out shortly. Woe betide the blooming starlings if I see them anywhere near it!
No idea what's on the little and often meal plan for today for Mr TA. I'll let him consult the "good list" when he gets up and he can decide. Yesterday he stuck to my plan all day and he even had an extra nutritional strawberry shake in the evening. I hope he isn't suffering today because of it and can stick to plan again today.
Not a lot on the agenda for today other than pottering and sitting in the garden this afternoon with my book. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all who need/want them. Take care all xx
It shows how observant I am as I never even noticed June!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, and thanks Gers for starting off. It's a lovely day here as well , as Gers says, long may it continue!!
I've just put a wash load on, and there's another to follow - no problem about drying today.
We went to a garden centre yesterday, and bought a few more plants, so I'll put those in, and that will be the last of the plants. I used to put loads of bedding in, and plant up containers, but I don't do so much now.
Will be visiting an elderly friend nearby this morning, and then it'll just be household stuff. I've got some sewing on the go, so I'll do that.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - take care folks.0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the thread Gers,
It’s a beautiful morning here in EA, I didn’t hear or see any sign of storms during the night so not sure if they passed us by. It’s very warm already.
Not much planned today, not going anywhere so just a gentle, pottering day at home, my favourite kind
I have a piece of pork belly in the fridge so will cook that low and slow to have with new pots and salad.
Need to send my beloved out to the back garden when he gets up as a predator, probably a fox, has left the remains of a rabbit on the lawn
I saw it when I went out to fill up the bird feeders but couldn’t cope with clearing it up before my first cuppa!
Have a good day folks and enjoy the sunshine if you have it x0 -
Good morning all. I'm up early to go to the gym as it will be shut tomorrow (council gym) so I need to do my run today. I'm doing couch to 5k to help the circulation in my leg repair itself. Week 4 was hard so I may repeat that until it feels easier. Week one nearly killed me but would be an absolute doddle now so I'm hopeful of being able to actually run the 5k by the end of it.
It's sunny out just now but we're predicted thunder storms later. I may go and cut back some more of the trees that overhang my back fence. I want to paint the fences with wood preservative this year and it's no good if I can't get to them. I made a start yesterday but my first mistake was to clear a patch that cat number 2 could climb to. She then spent an interesting hour climbing backwards and forwards over the bits I was working on, giving instructions (I assume) and generally getting in the way.
I went to the first BBQ of the year at a friend's house last night. I didn't see many people while my leg was very sore (out of choice and partly due to so many hospital/nurse appointments) so it was good to be back with the gang again.
Take care all of you and special eating vibes to Mr TA.0 -
TA don't be sending rain to your west coz thats us & I've got pots to plant in the back yard & a tip run to do!

Scampi LOVES to get dirty while he's out, but as soon as he's home he starts to clean himself. Mr tru says shower time! and he runs up the stairs (he's carried if he's very dirty) to the bathroom and stands in the shower cubicle – he's in there before we've made it halfway up the stairs
Won't let me shower him off, only mr tru, lol.

Scampi's food and treats have been floating around in the universe since 3pm friday. DPD's tracking thing on their site says it was delivered and signed for. They didn't come here or to any of my neighbours, none us recognise the name of the person who supposedly signed for it. They wouldn't tell me which address it was delivered to, only the postcode. Pets At Home were fab (and no long waiting time on the phone either), I told them if I knew which house it was at I'd go and get it. DPD won't/can't give them the address either, PAH are their customer so you'd think they'd have to. They immediately reordered it and a couple of hours later I had an email saying it was packed and ready to go and they'll send it express delivery. It'll probably arrive before the expected time of my original order. Hope it's not the same driver, lol.
I hope it stays dry this morning, I'd like a decent walk today. We weren't out for long yesterday but got very wet. Scampi was not pleased
I've been flinging yarn around trying to choose the next colour for my blanket, I need to tidy that up, actually choose a colour then sit and crochet

Good morning everyone :hello:
After a spectacular thunder and lightning storm last night, this morning feels a lot fresher although it is very overcast. Hopefully the sun will shine for us later on.
There are currently three washing baskets lined up by the machine ready to go on today. Phoebe beat me to it this morning as she has officially run out of clothes :rotfl:. I only have a load of towels to do so it can wait.
We had a very late night with Becky yesterday as she couldn't settle. She ended up watching a film with her Dad as I gave in at 2am and crawled off to bed. She is still asleep now and I really hope the poor thing has a better day.
Steve is going to cook southern fried chicken and wedges today for dinner so that should hopefully be nice. I have just ordered a load of baking ingredients as I have been asked to make stuff for a cake stall for a local funday in the park. I have booked the kitchen for next Saturday and will be enlisting as much help as possible from Becky and my friend.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0
