Currently on about 35 Meg download.
Is it worth upgrading to 70 Meg?
As a family have several laptops, phones etc. But none of the laptops are high spec, so, can anyone advise if it would be worth it.
Thanks in advice.

What do you use the laptops and phones for? If you do a lot of streaming on them and get any buffering problems, then yes, the upgrade would be worth it.
If you just do a bit of surfing and only use your phones for making calls/texting and maybe a few emails, then No.
What about your TV, is that connected for things like Netflix etc?

I have 38 meg with 3-4 people/machines streaming and/or using phones at same time and use a VPN for ork - never had an issue with buffering etc , so haven't bothered upgrading for the extra cost. If you're having no problems, doubt you'll see a difference

All upgrading to 70mbps will do is allow you to download whopping great files twice as fast assuming all other things are equal. For most use, ie general browsing you wont notice much difference.

Maybe if you use UDH streaming from Netflix on all the devices at the same time you would probably benefit. But if you only do that once in a blue moon its probably not worth it.

Similar to my house. I'm on 70 Meg and to be honest other than when downloading updates for games and disk image files it makes no difference. If you're currently happy with the speed I doubt you'll notice much if any difference in everyday use.

What will make it seem faster is changing the IP address for your DNS server to 1.1.1.1.

Or any other third party DNS server - OpenDNS, Google, 9.9.9.9 to name but three.

These may be placebo effects though but much of the time it depends on the website you're trying to visit. If its slow and/or overloaded it won't matter how fast your internet is.

We get 3Meg ... we manage ... (we can upgrade to fibre which will give us 5 Meg, but not going to bother!) - it's sufficient to stream i-player etc

Have around a 1000 up and down at work and 46 at home.

Apart from transferring files, I notice no noticeable difference in streaming or general browsing.
