Hi My car is 2.5 tonne but the stands will only be use to hold up either one axle or two at a time so will 2 tonne axle stands be ok?
Thanks

Yes they'll be fine. There's probably no more than 1/3 to 1/2 a tonne load on any corner.

I thought they would be ok at 2 tonne but wasn't sure but i have found these and seem to like them along with the reviews

Whilst the lower rated ones will be ok, if you are looking at buying some it's only a few quid more for the 3 tonne version, in my experience these are a fair bit more stable and would be my choice.

If you already have the 2 tonne ones I would just use them.

    Basic maths

2.5 tonne car, 1/3 of a tonne per corner...

Your 'basic maths' gives a car with precisely 7.5 corners.

To the OP, 3 tonne axle stands are cheap. Yes, 2 tonne stands may be okay, but is it worth the risk if it fails?

Really? There's little difference between the front corners and the rear corners?

I should stick mine on a weighbridge and see. I'd have expected the front end to weigh more and not just by a small amount.

Depends where your engine is ;)
  • I would go for the 3 tonne, much safer and you would not need to raise the stand because they are higher than the 2 tonne. Anyway that is what I have in the shed.

Well done shirly. You only look like an idiot extracting only what you need and taking it all out of context just to try make yourself look clever.
