    Not for everyone, but it is so light. In conjunction with a bivy bag, one can stay dry in some pretty foul weather.

    Ha ha! I have a 1920s copy of Baden Powell's Scouting for Boys. It has bivouacs like that in it, along with instructions on how to make toothbrushes out of twigs.

    I've slept in a plastic bag on the Cuillin Ridge in winter so I'm no stranger to primitive camping but I can guarantee that one night in that is likely to put the OP off camping for life.
