Try asking them first. An auction may not bring the result you are looking for and you will still have to meet the costs.I'm a retired IFA who specialised for many years in Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts. I cannot offer advice now, but my comments here and on Legal Beagles as Sam101 are just meant to be helpful. Do ask questions from the Members who are here to help.0

You can put your house up for auction if you wish.
However, you need to be careful to see whether you'll have to pay the EA's fees plus the auction fees. You need to check your contract with the EA carefully.
The contract might say that the EA gets their fee if the property is sold during the 20 week contact term. Regardless of whether it was sold to a buyer introduced by the EA or not.0 -
What does your contract with the agent say?
Irrespective of that, they may waive their fee for stadard marketing if they are going to earn the auction fee instead. Ask them!0 -
