Is my British gas smarter meter Correct ???

Recently moved in to a new bungalow and we had a smart meter fitted by British Gas in January . Now While my bills so far do not seem to bad I am baffled as to why my Smart meter shows that every day I have used exactly 27p from midnight to 8am even though the heating is off and no hot water has been used at all. Then only another 7p is used in the next 8 hours up to 4pm ?.
any ideas ?, we also use 32p of electric from Midnight to 8am is that normal ?

At midnight, the smart meter adds the standing charge to the daily total. 32p is probably about 2.5kWhs of electricity. This level of usage is not abnormal in a house where there is a fridge/freezer and pieces of equipment are left on standby overnight. Your usage from 8am looks to be very low at less than 1kWh.

Make sure you read the actual meter and not the IHD.

    Keep your own record.

Standing charge plus any minimal use during the early hours.

How much consumption in kWh do these costs relate to?

Do any of your gas appliances have a pilot light?

Most people have some electrical appliances on standby.
Although using approximately 2 kWh overnight just on standby would be quite alot, hence my first question.
