Council issued ECN with wrong CRM

Hi all, need some advice please. Received an ECN issued by council today. As I was about to pay, I noticed the registration number on the ticket was entered incorrectly by a digit. But the car made was right. It is a hired car from a well known rental company. Question, should I pay or ignore the fine? Thank you in advance

Question, should I pay or ignore the fine?
Do you have a local Council 'Parking Shop'? If yes, take it there and point out the error and get them to cancel it on the spot, as it is unenforceable.
If no parking shop, phone on Tuesday morning and ask the Council to cancel it for the same reason. The PCN is unenforceable.
If that doesn't work, appeal it within 14 days saying EXACTLY the same thing by way of appeal - wrong VRN. DO NOT send them the original PCN! Just a photocopy. I doubt you will be able to appeal online. Post your appeal if not cancelled in person/over the phone.
DO NOT IGNORE IT, JUST IN CASE THE COUNCIL SOMEHOW OBTAIN THE KEEPER DATA AND CONTACT THE OWNER, WITH A NTO LATER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE, BUT I WOULD NOT CHANCE IT.
P.S. I also got a Council PCN this week (caused by an error by me when distracted) and mine too, has a reason I know it will be cancelled. If not at first appeal, it will be cancelled in the end. Waste of resources and our Council tax, although the CEO and I had a nice chat - I admitted he was right to issue it, but we both knew it would be cancelled under the circs - and he'd heard of pepipoo forum!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you Coupon mad. First of all, good luck to your appeal.
I found out some information on the council appeal website that clearly states:
***Appeals
You can appeal against a parking ticket within seven working days of its issue but only on the following grounds:
The Excess Charge Notice contains inaccurate information. The legal requirement is to record the car registration number. Any other details, for example make and model, are optional and any inaccuracies are not grounds for appeal.
So, I am sending my appeal by email on ground of ECN contains errors or inaccuracies0
