    What does ISTR stand for?

It isn't a probate sale, knocking 1/3 off those is perhaps more.... successful than with a normal sale.

I'm obviously just being too sensitive :o Too many learning curves in too short a time have knocked me a bit!

Hopefully the EA will find an interested party soon.

It is a frustrating process, I have had the opposite scenario to you, had a seller pull out of selling a house 2 months in when we were getting close to exchanging contracts. Even worse it was because the couple selling it had split up but then decided to get back together and then not sell, so thanks to them for wasting my time and money! :(

I agree about needing thicker skin, I have just cut my losses and carried on to find another property which I actually like more than the first, fingers crossed you will get another buyer soon!

Identical to what happened with a property for our business. It looked so perfect and events surrounding the purchase, including the imprisonment of the only competitor (!) seemed to indicate it was meant to be.....Then the couple went to Relate.

Much later, we were finally ready and able to buy again. Just coincidence, but it was another marital split; this time with one of the vendors in prison, so slim chances of Relate screwing it up for us that time! :rotfl:

Switched agent and the guy literally bullied someone into buying it in three days. I happened to be at home during that viewing and heard him do it. That sale was all down to him as an individual bringing the right client in, who he'd shown a lot of other properties to already and working on him. Didn't even let him leave the flat until he'd agreed to a second viewing!

As I loathe overly pushy salesmen, that particular sales technique would have had the exact opposite effect on me and actually make me less likely to make an offer.

Just coincidence and nothing to do with me, but relationship break-up seemed to be behind the sales of many very rural properties we viewed.

I suppose it's not surprising that when two relatively unskilled people head off into the wilds to renovate and enjoy the 'good life' together, things may not work out, especially when an approximation to life as they've known it previously is 45+ minutes away.

    Dear YoungBlueE

Completely sorry to learn that your house sale has fallen through. We are planning to sell our property in the not too distant future and I have been monitoring RM and the property press religiously lately trying to get an eye on what the "punters" are doing regarding the property market.

Apparently it is well known that house buyers are quite picky right now and maybe this might have something to do with it?

Where I live there are around 10 - 15% of property sales that appear to fall through, only for them to come out of "sold" and be re-advertised on the market. However, they always appear to re-sell later. This unfortunately seems to be "part and parcel" of selling your home at the moment, you are not on your own believe me!

Personally, I would give it a couple of weeks and re-advertised with another estate agent. Presently there are houses that just aren't shifting as the market appears very, very slow indeed. We plan on selling ours just before the next Election as they prophesize that the market should pick up by 2021.

    Good luck for the future!
