Essex & Suffolk Water

Not a vent, but praise! I can find another thread on this board for them so I guess others may chip in to share their experiences. Over 17 years, mine have been completely positive.

All companies have their faults, but Essex & Suffolk Water's customer interface is proactively geared to keeping us happy! Yes they have the monopoly on the geography but this hasn't led to complacency around how they treat their customers, credit where it's due.

    I would never think to praise a water company.


    In the nearly 40 years i have been paying for my water I have never had cause to have any interaction with the company

    You take their water, give them your waste, and pay them for both - that all sounds like interaction with the company to me.

    The interaction comes when you encounter a problem, or a change is necessary, eg moving home, having a new meter installed, repairs on your property etc.

    Without competition, they don't need to do anything more than the bare minimum. Yet I have found them both pleasant to deal with and proactively generous in the way they have treated me. I am comparing this with some of the newbie energy companies who are clamouring for our business, so theoretically should have their CS spot on....so perhaps my expectations have been calibrated low in the first place?

    Regardless, Essex & Suffolk water have treated me well over a series of recent interactions over the past 6 months, and the world deserves to know.

    The only 'interaction' I've had in my lifetime has been about empty properties with water meters, following death of the owners.

    To be fair, Anglian Water customer services was excellent. Gave them a reading & they said there would be no charges for any water subsequently used while the properties remained unoccupied. All they would require was the name of the new owners/occupiers when the time came.

    Both times took a matter of a few minutes & we got a bit of water 'free' along with some waste disposal on the occasions we checked the premises (loo/flush/wash hands). Not really special enough to sing their praises!
    Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
