Hello, I got a parking ticket on my partner's car from Vehicle Control Services LTD. It says they're a member of IPC, I've read the newbie sticky but I couldn't tell if it was saying that there's no point in appealing?

I got the ticket on 8th April this year, I was supposed to have appealed by 7th May but I forgot. It was a really flimsy crappy looking piece of paper that was put on the windscreen. I checked the BPA website and there's a "Vehicle Control Solutions Ltd t/as Flashpark Ltd" listed but not Vehicle Control SERVICES.

I've just tried to appeal VIA the IAS but it says it's not recognised.

Is there anything I can do to avoid paying? When I log in, it still has the appeal button available.

The FAQ you have read explains the futility of appeals to IPC companies, so you haven't lost out too much by ignoring the PCN till too late for appeals

You are now in the debt collectors/wait and see stage

    See FAQ #4

Ignore everything now except a LBCCA or court correspondence

They have 6 years to commence legal proceedings

you will read about going into ignore mode re debtcrawler letters ....

Wtch / read the below to see what our MP's think of all this ...

    https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

Argh, it makes me really nervous. I really don't want to pay because I think they're thieves and I don't want to fund it. But the letters go to my partner's parents house and I don't want them to get threatening letters. I also don't want his name to be involved. Will it affect his credit?

    Will it affect his credit?
Only if VCS take him to court, he ignores the court documents and fails to defend himself (default judgment against him) or he defends the case and loses, the Judge awards costs against him, he refuses/forgets to make the payment within the deadline set by the Judge (normally 1 month). That's when credit is affected.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Your partner, as registered keeper of the car, needs to write to VCS telling them that from this point onwards his current address is the only address that can be used for service of documents.

Not doing that runs the risk of court action taking place without him having the opportunity to defend himself.

  • this company is a !!!!ing nightmare. fraud backed by the government and possibly the establishment. Mr Simon Renshaw lives in a 900 million pound or more mansion. scrounges off people like us by threatening to take us to court. i am prepared to take my life now because i don't have this kind of money to pay to fund these rich !!!!!!!s life. VCS is backed by moneyclaim.gov.uk. VCS don't accept appeals under no grounds! they have 0% empathy for anyone who is struggling in their life, they are quite happy and content that their threatening letters are driving me to commit suicide. moneyclaim.gov.uk customer service is diabolical if you can actually get someone to answer the call and furthermore, when you do get through, you get a line which either party cam hardly hear each other, they are very abrupt and aggressive in how they talk to you to the extent that they cut you off. this is another money spinner backed by the government and the establishment. they ought to be fined and jailed for what they are doing.

nilashah, do you want help with your claim?

If so, then please start your own thread.

Perhaps you should also complain to your MP about the situation you find yourself in.

You might also want to appraise yourself of the attempts being made in Parliament to put a stop to this racket.

    We agree.

The Renshaw-Smiths own a country pile and they ride (openly reported in the public domain), and no doubt rub shoulders with royalty at the Horse of the Year Show, etc.
All of this 'success' (for want of a better word) is funded by ordinary motorists pockets.

The entire industry should have been wiped out in 2012, not given a foothold and encouraged by the prize of 'keeper liability' handed to them when the BPA lied about court claims and shouted the loudest, and were listened to, to the current embarrassment of some Government Depts who (should) now know better.

And don't get me started about the abhorrent 'decision' by the Supreme Court Judges in ParkingEye v Beavis, which has DIRECTLY been used/abused & misquoted by all the other firms, and has led to misery for tens of thousands of people now living with CCJs from scum parking firms, or still being pursued ruthlessly.

I hope the Supreme Court is proud of what they have done to people.
i am prepared to take my life now because i don't have this kind of money to pay to fund these rich !!!!!!!s life.
Please don't even think like that. Pour your heart out (without swearing) to your MP and make it clear what abject misery is caused by this lowlife scum 'industry'.

Thanks so much for the replies. We've been ignoring all of the letters and it's now gone to Zenith Collections. I just want to make sure that they can't come over and take anything from the house?

I will send an SAR now. Does it have to go to VCS or Zenith?

My partner goes back to his mum's at least once a week so I wasn't worried about him missing a letter but now that it's gone to collections I will send the SAR informing them of our address. I wish it was in my name! I wouldn't be so worried then.

    Thanks again for the responses.
