How to get the best price for a Citroen

Hi folks, I'm thinking about buying a new Citroen (those who don't approve of French cars and Citroen in particular can save their breath...;-) ) I'm keen, obviously, to get best VFM and I understand there are various techniques to apply when buying a new car in order to get the best price. In particular, I hear that it's often possible to buy Citroens at generously discounted prices - what are the rules? How do I get to benefit from the discounts? Any advice welcome.

I've just bought a Berlingo van.
I got just over 40% off list without even asking.
That might be your starting point.0 -
Look on website like Broadspeed to see the level of discounts available on the car your interested in0

I've no idea who comes up with the list prices on vans.
Needed two Renault Masters so called my local dealer. They wanted something like £24k each (quoted list price)
Called Vauxhall and another Renault dealer who said they'd do them for £18k (both situations excl VAT)0 -
Buy one two years old.0

I've had a look at online reviews of Broadspeed and it looks like a good service. Does anyone have any views about the timing? Presumably it would be a better idea to leave it until after the August new plate rush.rgds,

New plates come out in March & September now.0 -
try Carwow you will get a better deal if the dealer has the model in stock and you can be a bit flexible on spec.
Don't be afraid to take these quotes from brokers to your local dealer, but do be prepared to walk away and don't believe any of their scare stories re buying online. It's no different than buying a fridge or TV.0 -
With carwow you are buying direct from the dealer in any case.0

errr yes? Your point is?0

1) do your research on carwow or drivethedeal
2) check which local dealers are part of the same group - its usually only worth visiting one of each group
3) visit a local dealer or 2 and tell them what you found it step 1 ask them if they can get near. If not then just walk away and get the online deal. As noted you will be dealing with a main dealer anyway Ive done it twice and saved over 10% extra each time . And you can get any warranty work done at any dealer
If you want extra peace of mind pay any deposit by credit card - if you pay £100-£30,000 by CC then the total amount is covered even if the dealer goes bust
As an aside many manufacturers (not sure about Citroen) are not taking orders at the moment awaiting WLTP changes
