To those who have used both Monzo and Starling -

Other than the already-mentioned difference in charges on foreign ATM withdrawals do you consider there to be any significant differences between these two banks?

I've been using Monzo for about 18 months now and think its great, but I've never tried Starling.

This is exactly how and why I use Monzo. Getting the live spending info and superior tracking/analytics became particularly desirable features once I started to regularly using contactless payments instead of cash.

Im considering doing something similar for smallish purchases and for big ones a credit card, the notification you get when money has been debited is a really cool feature.

I use both, and for spending, they operate in exactly the same way. The main difference is on the cash withdrawal allowance, Starling is currently unlimited, with a daily limit of 200 or 300, Monzo has a 200 monthly limit.

I!!!8217;ve used both but not used either as my main bank as yet. Both have their own pluses and minuses for me but those differences are starting to narrow especially now monzo have Apple Pay which was a huge deal breaker for me until recently. Starling!!!8217;s overdraft rates can be a lot better than Monzos as Starling charge a comparively low interest rate compared to Monzo!!!8217;s flat 50p per day overdrawn

Starling only soft search you when you apply for an account with them unless you take an offer of an overdraft so it wouldn!!!8217;t do you any harm to give them a try if you did want and see which you like the best. They get the card out to you pretty damn quick too and it comes in quite swanky packaging

Why would you use that? I've just looked on their page and they add a 1% fee for purchase abroad and £2 fee for withdrawals.

It's pretty terrible compared to Monzo and Starling for use abroad.
