Hi all
We discovered yesterday that our broadband wasn't working. Phoned plusnet - 'try this/that etc' no go.
Decided to phone our home number to check if that was working - it was answered by someone at the local pub !
My OH phones me from home, the pub number is displayed on my phone (it's on their website).
We're only about 100 yds away from them, so I guess an engineer (BT ?) has physically screwed up the connections, but who knows.
When I phone plusnet - after being passed from one person to another - and despite having a special needs child, the best they can offer is an engineer on Tuesday "due to the Bank Holiday", so we've got no broadband for the entire weekend now, great. And if it turns out to be our fault we'll get the £65 charge too, quite how it could be our fault I don't know.
PlusNet - they do NOT do you proud !

Since the pub is a business have you spoken to them? They might have a service agreement where they can get someone out quickly.0
-
OP....Chill out. Go and have a pint in your new local pub. Get Plusnet to give you a new phone number, complain and ask them for compensation.0
-
Have you spoken to the pub? Perhaps they had something done recently which could have caused this. Plus their loss from the mistake could be significant, meaning that the service provider(s) might be in more of a hurry to fix it.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

how is this even relevant?0 -
good, point. Go an have a drink and you can answer any of your calls while you are there.0

As today is Friday , and it's bank holiday Monday, getting a 'repair' date for Tuesday. two working days is pretty good considering that OR share of what you pay for line rental is less than 30p a day....how much more would you be prepared to pay for a quicker repair 'service"0

How is it not relevant? This is about the loss of a landline phone line. Depends on what the special needs are. To rather a lot of people a landline phone is a lifeline.0 -
It's unlikely Plusnet have anything to do with this fault, it's almost certainly an Openreach problem and outside Plusnet's control. A such, they have no say over the timeframe of OR's repairs0

Not strictly true, CP's can chose from several SLA's with Openreach
( service level agreements ) and if they pay a little more can have a improved response to faults etc, but many CP/ISP's chose the lowest and cheapest level of service, OR offer very quick response, if the CP has bought that improved SLA for their customers , it's upto CP's to offer it to their customers, if they don't, that's hardly OR's decision.
I agree , it's almost certainly an OR mistake that has caused this crossed line, but a 2 working day repair time for a 30p a day SLA seems good to me.0 -

BT Retail (I don't think other providers offer it) have a Total Care service with a 4 hour response time 24/7/365.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
