Buyer decided he no longer wants item

Hi,
Please can I have some advice on the following. I have sold a high value item on ebay and inbetween the buyer paying via paypal and me posting he has said he no longer wants the item and has requested to cancel. Leading up to this he has asked for split invices from paypal which i ignored and he eventualy paid as normal. I'm worried this may be some kind of scam so have not done anything yet until I am clear of the process. Would I be better waiting until he says the item has not been received. I want to ensure I get my fees back etc.
Many Thanks

As it's high value you might want to protect yourself by cancelling. Go into the sale, choose the cancel option but make sure you choose the 'Buyer requested' reason. That way you get your ebay and paypal fees back all except for 20p which paypal will keep.
Do it that way though, do not go to paypal first, the cancellation on ebay will ask if you want to refund, do it that way.
Then if you haven't already done so block the buyer.
Assuming you are a private seller you technically don't have to accept a cancellation, but frankly it probably isn't worth the hassle in arguing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I read it as he HAS already posted and isn't doing anything about the request to cancel yet!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I read it that the item has been posted too. When I get cancellation requests after an item has been posted I just tell the buyer that unfortunately I can't cancel an order in transit but they can return it once it's been received. The buyer can refuse delivery but I've always found the buyer accepts delivery and then returns it.0

I took the use of the phrase 'inbetween ... buyer paying and posting' to mean it hasn't been posted. If OP comes back, and so many don't, perhaps they could clarify.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
