Keter shed

Hi,
I have a Keter 8x8ft plastic shed that has been up less than the 7 years warranty the manufacturer offers. The roof panels seem to have degraded (half of them have bleached badly in the sun and half have not, suggesting a manufacturing problem) and a leak has sprung from the edge of one of the degraded roof panels.
I have the build manual for it which has a sticker of theirs on with a date of 24/8/11 so that proves I bought it within the 7 year period (it was about 6 years back). However, I can't find my proof of purchase from Argos, and they don't keep records of online purchases that far back.
The shed has been discontinued so Keter can't supply parts for it, which means its potentially scrap - which is bad when these are marketed as being more durable than traditional sheds. The new version is very similar but with a different roof design (I wonder why......) and is about £700.
At the time I bought it, there was a defective component which Keter posted out free of charge to my still current address - but they reckon they don't keep records of that sort of transaction.
At the moment, I'm trying to get credit card statement copies from Barclaycard as I only tend to keep the last five years, as Keter are refusing to do anything without a proof of purchase. But even if I can do that, it will still only show an amount paid to Argos, and not what it was for - which gives them wriggle room.
Because this is unquestionably THEIR product, is defective, and was definitely obtained within the warranty period (I sent them the scan of the build manual showing their data sticker), the only purpose of the proof of purchase would seem to be to evidence I really do have a shed (as opposed to taking photos of someone else's and trying to claim it was mine!). Would it be reasonable for example, to invite them to come and inspect it for themselves at their cost? I can't exactly send the shed or roof panels back to them.
Any ideas appreciated! Thanks.

As it's a warranty issue then the manufacturer can impose pretty much whatever terms and conditions they like. So if they insist on an original proof of postage then you're pretty much stuffed. I'm sure you can do something to sort out the leak, even if it's simply to apply some sealant.0

You can invite them to do anything, but their answer is likely to be show us proof of purchase.
A build manual is not proof of purchase, you could have bought that off ebay.
If it had a 7 year warranty you needed to keep a copy of that. Due to receipts fading so quickly these days i scan receipts for expensive items so i have a digital copy.
Its not to prove that you do have a shed, its to prove you purchased it when new. Possibly does not cover 2nd hand items. Original purchaser only?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If no joy I would repair the roof by using Cromapol Acrylic Waterproofing Roof Coating you can get it in grey, white, black and clear. I use it fair bit on jobs I do at home and allotment0

Fair point about ebay. Many of the larger parts are date stamped with manufacture date but the ones I have found seem to be back end of 2010.0 -

Not sure sealant alone will be enough as the roof panels are very light and tend to flex - probably part of the problem. If no joy I would repair the roof by using Cromapol Acrylic Waterproofing Roof Coating you can get it in grey, white, black and clear. ......but that looks interesting stuff, and might be worth a punt.0 -

I have a similar sized Keter shed and it's brilliant. I jet wash it every 3 years to clean it and that it the sum of the maintenance. I've had it 12 years and in one or two places it's leaking - nothing major. What did I do? Got a £1 tube of clear sealant, put it in my sealant gun and whizzed over all the seam/joints.The man without a signature.0

Thanks. I ended up doing just that - but on a larger scale. I dismantled the roof completely over the weekend and sealed every joint as several of them no longer seat correctly. Still going to put some roof sealer over the top to protect it a bit further too. It probably doesn't help that it's in a south facing garden. The side panels that face the sun have also bowed in as they were very thin to start with. Keter's Fusion shed looks a lot more substantial.0
