Private airport transfers

Hi looking for tips on private airport transfers?

Holiday we have booked has a 2 hour transfer with the bus provided by Thomas cook however doing it privately takes an hour off the journey

Had a quick google and found a few sites with variable prices

More advice would be forthcoming if you stated arrival airport and destination resort.

Sorry, don't know Rhodes but private transfers are an excellent idea. Worth every penny IMO.

We do it in Turkey every year. It's great to have someone pick us up and ready to leave as soon as we've collected our luggage.

The hotel manager always arranges ours as he knows which company sends the best car. May not be the most mse but we enjoy the luxury!

Hope someone posts soon with recommendations for Rhodes.

so you arrange it before hand if so how? Tried contacting the hotel but they just told us about taxis at the airport and roughly how much it would be

Type "Rhodes private transfers" into your favourite search engine and there will be plenty of options. I have used Hoppa in several countries and never had a problem but it will all come down to who they use as their local agent

Shared transfers are always a bit of a gamble but they are a lot cheaper. You may get lucky and your destination may be the first stop or you could spend hours going around every hotel in town. If the price of a private transfer is reasonable then nothing beats arriving at a strange airport to find someone holding up your name on a board.

You'll sometimes find that hiring a car for a week is barely anymore than the cost of transfers/ taxis to and fro.

You then have the option of independent travel but depends on where you hotel is and the parking situation.

In Ibiza, private transfers are often twice the price of a taxi from outside airport arrivals, so it pays to do your research. Many people assume they will be cheaper, and have been disappointed when they have found out that this isn’t the case. Even if the transfer seems to be a reasonable price, you could find yourself waiting around for up to an hour for people from other flights.

That may be peculiar to Ibiza. It's not been my experience elsewhere.

I expect a private transfer to be more expensive than a taxi and generally a better quality car. It's also for my private use not shared with other people and ready to go when I'm ready.

Surely that's what most people would understand by private transfer.

Not sure what the difference is between a private transfer and a taxi. I would expect both to be solely for me and my family. I think a private transfer would have been pre booked before i went and a taxi something picked up at the airport on arrival, but i wouldn't expect to be sharing my taxi with anyone unless i wanted too.
