At what point do you decide to close a thread and why? I have been following the exploits of Pinklipstickbabe on the Family and Relationships board and it is now closed. How come (please)?

It is never a good idea to pull threads on your clothes
It may have been to do with too much personal information. I have read part of it but not been to it recently.
You've got to remember that there is another person involved who can't put their view across and it may have been deemed that the thread had become inappropriate or even not relevant to the aims of the site.
EDIT - does seem harsh and seems like board guide had nothing better to do as there is no contribution from anyone when it comes to moderators.0 -

In fact the OP asked for the thread to be closed then asked for it to be opened, then apparently deleted all her posts. The thread hardly makes sense now the OP has deleted her posts and so it seems to me it is fair to lock it instead of having people talking to themselves
It is not the case that board guides have nothing better to do than lock threads believe me. You will find that in comparison very few threads get locked or posts deleted for no good reason, however there is nothing to stop a user deleting their own posts.0 -
If that is the case, and I've just been across to have a look and didn't notice that fact, then you have my sincere apologies.
I would be of the opinion now then that it was all made up.
Once again I apologise.0 -
Hi
It was me who closed it, firstly on the request of the OP, then I reopened it on her request, then as posts were deleted people were commenting on how it didn't make sense I agreed with & felt it had run it's course plus it is not related to money saving. I took the decison to close it without posting why as I thought it was best to let it drop off the page rather than keep highlighting it at the top.
I still feel I made the best decision in the circumstances & yes I certainly have other things to do as well as closing threadsTo date I haven't had any requests to reopen it & i don't read every post, I happened to click on this one as I thought it was about bargain clothes!
