Do couriers check contents?

I need to post a bedroom in a box, it includes a wall mural, paste and 2 tins of Dulux water based gloss/matt paint. Parcelforce will carry it for around £12, however Myhermes print in store is currently only £2.95!!
As its all in its original sealed box and not loose paint would it be ok to send? or could I send it anyway as print in store does not ask what is in the parcel. Does anyone know if Myhermes scan parcels for content?
Odd thing is shops sell these and I know they use couriers and not RM!

my local garage that offers print in store does not want to know content0

No - should be fine, until your box gets caught and the tin splits inside their multi million pound conveyor system and they drag your balls through court.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. When I've ordered paint it's been delivered by Yodel, might be with checking their prices (although the likes of Parcel2Go may have different restrictions compared to what companies with a direct Yodel account have so be sure to double check the restricted list). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

as print in store does not ask what is in the parcel.
I would have thought that this would be a legal requirement to cover them in case something dangerous was sent and which later caused a problem whilst it was in their care.0 -

As per the OP, paints are definitely prohibited.

I realise that all paints are prohibited, it's just that I find it hard to believe that the courier wouldn't ask the sender to confirm that there are no prohibited goods in the package they are sending even if this is only done as part of the purchase where you have to tick to agree to the T&C's.Odd thing is shops sell these and I know they use couriers and not RM!
This would require them to have someone who is qualified to pack and certify these goods to ensure that they are safe to transport.0 -
I recieved a parcel a few weeks back , yodel/dpd/myhermes , cant remember , it was fibreglass resin , a 2.5l of very sticky stuff , the contents were labelled as "plastic" , yes , the container was plastic0

Thank you for replies. Just checked Yodel, it only mentions solvent based paints not water based, so will get in touch with them to check.
The list of prohibited items on any courier site is always very restrictive and I'm sure most people ignore it, for instance just noticed 'toy guns' on Yodel which I can't see any toy seller complying with as it would include all the Nerf toys. They also prohibit printer ink!0
