My apologies for the confusion to those that offered help, the closing time was actually 23.59 on Monday night. He does not want t complain - he wants to his application to get considered!!

so the application was in before the deadline but did he do the "necessary civil service judgement test before the vacancy closed."? Unless they've changed their process this is an online assesment test done in the privacy of your own home as part of the application process.

Edit: I think what they are trying, badly, to say is that becasue he submitted the application so close to the closing date it didn't get flagged/noticed that he had ticked the help required box and/or hadn't done the assesment test before the closing date so they couldn't contact him to tell him.

As I have already said he doesn't want to complain, he wants the same chance as all other applicants and to have the rejection reviewed but because he ticked the additional support box it appears his application has been rejected!

Surely the rejection is because he didn't do the judgement test in time? I think the CS response made an error in referring to the support tick at all, requiring support shouldn't mean that a deadline can be ignored.

Again as I read it, the support only applies if called forward for interview. Has your other half been allowed to complete any necessary online tests, in the same way another candidate would?

the online test is only open until 24 hours after the closing date for it to be done, either the OP husband did not read the job specificiation which would have stated that the online needed to be done and when to be done by, or if he did, did not understand what it is meant. They only condsider applications for interviews, and sift the comptetenies once the online test is done and passed.

I literally know zilch about this but the OP states he applied at around 6pm Monday, the closing date being midnight on Monday.

He received a reply saying unsuccessful on Tuesday morning.

How would this work with the test being open for 24 hours after the closing date, aka Tuesday midnight?

most of the applications I have seen have been 24 hours after closing, but reading what the OP posted, they have stated "he did not complete the necessary test before the vacancy closed", so either recruitment have put the wrong date or the OP husband did not note when that needed to be done, most of the posts also state that if they have an additional needs, to be contacted beforehand, as they may of done something which may of allowed him to do the test another way, if they were referring to the test as well as the interview. It might be better for the OP to look at the job advert to see what it states

The closing time was 12.59 hrs on the Monday - that's one minute before 13.00 hours or one minute before one o'clock in old money. OP's husband didn't submit his application until 6 pm (or 18.00 hours) and so was too late.

That’s been subsequently changed to midnight :)

    Hello

I am looking for some advice regarding an application my husband put in on Monday for a Civil Service vacancy. The closing date was 12.59pm on Monday and he sent his application around tea time on Monday.

As he has dyslexia he had ticked the box stating he would require extra support if called forward for interview as if there are any written tasks he would require the use of a word processor.

Yesterday morning he received this response:

You haven’t met the eligibility requirements for this job.
Unfortunately because you submitted your application the day before vacancy closed and ticked the help required box. This has only flagged up this morning and you have not completed the necessary civil service judgement test before the vacancy closed.
We appreciate this will be disappointing news and would like to thank you for your interest.

I feel this is discrimination as nowhere on the application does it state you need to apply earlier to ensure this test is completed.

He emailed back yesterday afternoon but has not received ant reply.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice would be gratefully recevied.

    Regards

    Laura

Hello and thanks to those who have offered constructive replies. To the moron who seems to think this post is regarding compensation you are so far off the mark, this is a job that my husband is desperate to get, has worked hard to achieve the appropriate qualification and he that would be perfect for it - you don't deserve to know any further details than that given that you are clearly just looking for attention.

My confusion is in regards to the help required box comment in the reply.

Any further help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Laura

But did he do the online test in time?
