Civil Service Application Rejection - help required box

Hello

I am looking for some advice regarding an application my husband put in on Monday for a Civil Service vacancy. The closing date was 12.59pm on Monday and he sent his application around tea time on Monday.

As he has dyslexia he had ticked the box stating he would require extra support if called forward for interview as if there are any written tasks he would require the use of a word processor.

Yesterday morning he received this response:

You haven’t met the eligibility requirements for this job.
Unfortunately because you submitted your application the day before vacancy closed and ticked the help required box. This has only flagged up this morning and you have not completed the necessary civil service judgement test before the vacancy closed.
We appreciate this will be disappointing news and would like to thank you for your interest.

I feel this is discrimination as nowhere on the application does it state you need to apply earlier to ensure this test is completed.

He emailed back yesterday afternoon but has not received ant reply.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice would be gratefully recevied.

Regards

Laura

My advice is to complete the test and bank the score for the next similar job you see regardless of wether he is interested in the role or not, then bank the score for when a job does come up.

Most of the job descriptions, state that there is online test and has to be completed by a certain time, there is the possibility that he may of missed it.

Unfortutely they have changed the online tests and they are no longer bankable, which is annoying.

I read this as his application being made after the closing time (ie just before 1pm). That appears to be a more logical explanation for the rejection

Closing date lunchtime on Monday. Application submitted teatime on Monday. That's the deadline he missed - no cause for complaint.
  • Yeah I was confused at first when I read the 12.59pm bit but then realised that!!!8217;s like a minute before 13.00, so if the form was submitted at tea time, unfortunately the deadline was missed.

Doesn't get job, so immediately jump at a chance of comp-en-say-shun. Super.

Where exactly does it say that is what he is after?

Hello and thanks to those who have offered constructive replies. To the moron who seems to think this post is regarding compensation you are so far off the mark, this is a job that my husband is desperate to get, has worked hard to achieve the appropriate qualification and he that would be perfect for it - you don't deserve to know any further details than that given that you are clearly just looking for attention.

My apologies for the confusion to those that offered help, the closing time was actually 23.59 on Monday night. He does not want t complain - he wants to his application to get considered!!

My confusion is in regards to the help required box comment in the reply.

Any further help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Complaining to get an interview is unlikely to get him a job. So if he really wants the job or a job like it, I wouldn!!!8217;t complain...

This, don't appear on their radar for the wrong reasons.
