Mp3 - Wma Files

Sorry but please don't get too techie if you reply.

I have copied a cd to my computer and it plays fine on windows media player. But I can't get it to copy to my Daughter's MP3 player?

I know its the file type that is the problem. Is there anyway to change the files to mp3? Or am I going about copying from cd the wrong way?

Please help as you can see I aint too techie! My Daughter is getting rather frustrated with me now too.

what program did you use to copy the CD...??

if it is windows media player it puts protection on it anless you turn it off (meaning it will only play on that PC)

Open Media Player (I have Version 10) and click on "tools" at the top of the page and then "option" on the menu that comes up

then click on the "Rip Music" button and chage the settings to "mp3" and untick "Copy Protected Music" if that box is ticked.

then click on the "apply" button and you are finished

now rip the Cd again and it should be ok !

Download and install this, its free.

Basically it will 'rip' cd audio tracks to MP3 or WAV format onto the hdd.

Quite easy to use, put cd in drive, open cdex and it should refresh a list of audio tracks on the cd. Click 2nd icon down on the right hand side (extract cd tracks to compressed audio files)

It will do the rest for you, after its finished go into the folder where its 'ripped' to and copy to MP3 player etc...
